Storing your boat for the winter season is the best way to ensure your model isn’t damaged by cold temperatures, ice, or snow. However, figuring out how to winterize a boat and safely place it into storage can be trickier than you imagine. For tips on how to successfully winterize your model, check out our article below.

The Winterization Process

The process of boat winterization begins with cleaning the exterior of the boat from top to bottom to remove any grime or algae that has accumulated. Next, the motor is flushed with fresh water, and the cooling system is given a fresh batch of antifreeze. A fuel stabilizer is then added to protect the fuel system from freezing and condensation. Finally, the boat’s battery is removed. We recommend placing the battery on a trickle charger while your boat is in storage.

About Our Boat Winterization Services

When it comes time to retire your boat for the winter, you will need to do more than just park it in the driveway and cover it with a tarp. The elements can take a heavy toll on our beloved boats, and serious damage can result from long-term storage if the proper steps are not taken. If you skip the process of winterization, you can end up with a bad case of mildew, or with an engine that needs to be repaired.

Of course, this can seem like a chore, and not all boaters have the time to make all the needed preparations before placing their boats in storage.
