Boat Show - Attending Guide
Attending a boat show is the best way to see all the latest models, accessories, and advancements in one place. Look at vessels, learn at seminars, and talk to other boaters. Whether you’re all about angling, pleasure cruises, speed, water sports, freshwater, saltwater -- it’s all there in glorious real life. There’s no better way to talk to a ton of experts and make new friends who share your passion for boating.
Here are some tips for how to get the most out of your day (or days!) at a boat show. Lots of us think that going to a boat show is the best way to have fun on dry land, so check out our advice and make plans to hit a boat show or three in the near future! Please remember that you’re always welcome in our New Jersey Outboards dealership here in Bayville, New Jersey, where we serve folks from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to New York, and beyond.
Why Go To A Boat Show?
There are plenty of reasons to go to a boat show:
- They’re just plain fun
- You’ll see this year’s latest models from the most popular brands
- You’ll meet other enthusiasts, swap tips, and share stories
- Factory reps know their vessels inside and out, so they are great resources
- See the newest accessories and upgrades
- Go to seminars and presentations
- Get swag!
What to Bring
Bring your phone fully charged, and maybe some backup power. Taking lots of pictures is even better than taking notes, but bring a pad and pen. Bring a bag or daypack for brochures and goodies. Put a bunch of business cards in your pocket or in your ID badge holder. Wear comfortable shoes. Bring a snack and a water bottle for the ultimate boat-show endurance. Is there an outdoor area? Bring the right outerwear. If you’re in a buying mood, bring your credit cards! Many vendors offer special deals at boat shows.
How to Maximize Your Time
Plan ahead, especially if you have an agenda or goal. If you’ve got questions, write them down. Check out the schedule of workshops and seminars and set phone reminders so you won’t miss them. Check the vendor list and decide on your priorities. Plan your day out in advance so you don’t miss anything you want to see, and allow yourself plenty of time for networking and random wandering. If you’re with friends, decide on places to meet up so you can each pursue your own focus.
We hope you’re as excited as we are about boat shows. Not much is better than a bunch of people all in one place who are happy to talk about boats all day and all night, right? Whatever your boat needs, please come and see us at New Jersey Outboards and let us help you out. We’re in Bayville, New Jersey, serving the boating community from Connecticut and beyond.
