Pontoons are a pretty unique type of ship and aren’t always the easiest to shop for. If you’re interested in buying one of these amazing vessels check out our helpful buying tips below! When you’re ready to start browsing, stop by our location in Bayville, New Jersey and check out our inventory.

Number of Pontoons

Before you pick your boat off the lot, pay close attention to the number of pontoons it uses. 2 pontoons are great for casual cruises in calm waters. However, 3 pontoons will allow you to reach higher speeds, access rough waters, and even do a bit of waterskiing.

Seating

Seating is an important factor to consider when selecting a pontoon boat. These ships can come with a number of different types of chairs, some made to maximize space, while others are meant to provide an extra layer of convenience. You’ll also want to consider how many passengers you plan to accommodate. The more seating required the larger your pontoon will need to be. A typical pontoon can seat anywhere from 5 to 9 people in a 24 foot space. However, if you need to seat more passengers you’ll need a bigger ship, increasing the overall sticker price.

Budget

As we’ve mentioned, the larger a pontoon boat is the more expensive it tends to be. The same can be said for included features, such as rod holders or extra storage space. If the perfect boat is a bit out of your budget, you may want to consider financing your purchase or browsing the dealership’s used models. At the end of the day it’s important not to fall into debt you can’t afford. Consider what features are truly necessary to have and which are just fun perks.

We hope these tips will prove to be helpful to you as you shop for your perfect pontoon. If you’re located earby in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, or the states of New York and Connecticut, we hope you’ll visit New Jersey Outboards for all of your boating needs!
